On-campus interviewing (OCI) at Michigan Law is a well-oiled machine. It’s a great way to bring alumni back home as recruiters, and OCP takes those relationships very personally. Through OCI, I secured a 2L summer internship at a firm in my hometown of Miami. But the experience made me understand that my interest is transactional work, not litigation. Deciding to switch paths as a 3L was scary, but no one at Michigan tried to convince me to stay the course. Instead, they were behind me 100 percent in encouraging me to follow my passion. OCP’s open-door policy helped me cultivate strong relationships, and their advice wasn’t generalized; it was tailored to my interests and strengths. I also leveraged OCP’s extensive career resources, which surpass what friends at other law schools have described. OCP won’t hand you a job, but they will give you the resources, tools, and connections to find the opportunity that’s right for you. OCP helped me look inward and think of myself as a unique brand. Remember that if you got into Michigan Law, you’ve positioned yourself to succeed just by being there. In the job search process, find your voice—it’s what got you to Michigan in the first place.
